Open Source Lab

A place to build, maintain, and learn from open-source software platforms.

The Open Source Lab is where the foundation builds, maintains, and promotes open-source software platforms, and where people learn to contribute to them.

It is for individuals from every background: students, career-switchers, and working developers who want a maintained place to practise, review, and ship work that others can use. The company’s object is explicit about the outcome. People should be able to learn, contribute, and benefit — not only watch.

What the lab is set up to do

  • Keep open-source platforms usable and documented
  • Grow a contributor community that a newcomer can enter
  • Make the benefit of the software public, rather than held inside one institution

The lab is named alongside DevCarnival . One is the ongoing work of maintenance and contribution. The other is the public gathering around it. Neither is limited to people who already have access to a university lab or a company engineering team.

Institutions that want a course, a research group, or a student community to work inside this practice can read how collaboration is meant to work .
